Yorkshire Street is the focus of the night time economy in Oldham and according to BBC Panorama (broadcast in August 2009) had a 200% increase in serious violent incidents in the first four months of 2009. Feria were appointed by Oldham Council to advise on a series of design interventions to make this street, and the surrounding areas, safer and more diverse. The strategy included ways in which the area could be "deintensified" through wider regeneration projects while specific advice included ideas for better lighting of the taxi rank.
