Richard Eastham is director of Feria Urbanism. He has extensive experience of the preparation of design strategies, development frameworks, master plans, planning briefs and capacity studies. He has particular expertise in engaging stakeholders and communities through design workshops to help influence urban spatial strategies.
In December 2007, after ten years’ working for commercial design and planning practices, Richard established Feria, a decision that has given him a greater level of freedom, creativity and control. In its young life, Feria has already worked for South Gloucestershire Council, Liverpool City Council, Preston City Council, the London Borough of Bexley, Havant Borough Council, Detling Parish Council, Inspire East, the Civic Trust and the Solent Centre for Architecture + Design. Feria has also collaborated with Tandem Marketing, Conran & Partners architects, artist Fiona Heron, planning practice Metropolis PD, public health experts Ben Cave Associates, transport planners Phil Jones Associates and urban design practice Matrix Partnership.
There is a network of like-minded individuals and practices that can assist Feria with more complex projects. This includes expertise in architecture, landscape design, economic and regeneration advice, urban policy reviews, CAD and 3-D modelling.
Prior to establishing Feria, Richard was an associate director at Terence O’Rourke Ltd in Bournemouth before becoming a director at NEW Masterplanning Ltd in Poole. He was born in Preston, Lancashire and trained at the University of Sheffield, the University of Manchester and Oxford Brookes University.
Richard loves his family and his large collection of bicycles.
